WEEK 6 





1-hideous
Definition: horrible, ugly, shocking.  
Part of speech: adjective .
Sentence: The main character of the book gets a hideous disease and dies .
Collocation: truly hideous  .

2-exceed
Definition: be superior to , outreach, rise above, out-distance .
Part of speech: verb.
Sentence: You will fail the course if you haven’t exceeded 60 points on the test .
Collocation: exceeded the maximum  .

3-  disagreeable
Definition: bad tempered , unfriendly  .
Part of speech: adjective  .
Sentence: The new employee has a disagreeable and rude character with all of us   .
Collocation: disagreeable odor.

4-subsequent
Definition: later , following , consequent .
Part of speech: adjective.
Sentence: The students continued preparing for finals in subsequent weeks.
Collocation: subsequent efforts.

5-ideological
Definition:brainy , thoughtful , thinking ,intellectual  .
Part of speech: adjective .
Sentence:The professor had  ideological anti-science perspective about our topic today  .

6-principal
Definition: main, primary or fundamental .
Part of speech: adjective .
Sentence: Our university library is the principal source for all kind of information .

7-format
Definition: arrangement , design  or setup .
Part of speech: noun.
Sentence: The standard format for essays is to have an introduction , body part and conclusion  .
Collocation: standard format.

8- cease
Definition: stop, finish or conclude .
Part of speech: verb.
Sentence: The black panthers could cease to exist if  the hunting continued  .
Collocation: cease to exist .

9-grant
Definition: something granted as a privilege or right , or sum of money  .
Part of speech: noun .
Sentence: The public is demanding government grants to cover the costs of the recent storm.
Collocation: government grants.

10-induce
Definition: cause , produce , influence  .
Part of speech: verb.
Sentence: Taking a warm bath helps induce sleep  .
Collocation: induce sleep .

  1. Good work but check your example for "exceed". It means to pass an established limit, for example "exceed a speed limit". Your example using 60 points is not correct because 60 points is not an established limit.
